Ron Burgundy will be taking his talents from classy San Diego to frigid Winnipeg for his first professional debut as a color man.
Canadian sports channel, The Sports Network announced late Sunday night that Will Ferrell will be joining Vic Rauter to broadcast the Roar of the Rings tournament on Dec. 1.
The star of Anchorman 2 downplayed the challenge of describing strangely clad men as they sweep ice in front of sliding rocks.
“Marked by the gods of broadcasting and placed into this shimmering green sphere like a golden egg in hay, chosen like an unclean jackal by Noah himself, I accept your hallowed task and sing out with a battle cry worthy of your love and your wisdom,” said Burgundy in a statement Sunday. “And that song is, ‘Winnipeg, get ready to paint the town Burgundy!’ ”
The stunt is an excellent marketing tool, as the new Anchorman movie is one of the most anticipated films of the holiday season. Will Ferrell has been previously featured on a variety of commercials playing Ron Burgundy including ESPN, Dodge, and Chrysler.
